The Middle Path was created by Hope Reneau who had been leading IOP programs at a local Knoxville hospital. Hope thought that without the limitations of hospitals she could create a program that would be offered in a warm and comfortable house with small client groups that received personal attention.
The clinical focus would be DBT with holistic experiences that a hospital setting could not offer. Hope's dream, as a social worker, was to offer the most effective IOP treatment in the surrounding Knoxville and Chattanooga communities. Thus,
The Middle Path was born.
