Melissa Rose, LPC-MHSP
Hi! My name is Melissa Rose and I am absolutely passionate about childhood mental health! I am a board certified, licensed professional counselor and have been in the field for nearly a decade. My background includes community mental health, in-home services, and private practice where I have dedicated my work to improving the lives of children and their families. I have experience in treating a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, ADHD, and behavioral disorders with specialized training in the treatment of early childhood trauma. I enjoy working with parents behind the scenes on effective parenting strategies and nurturing a healthy and fulfilling relationship with their child, as well. I like to compare child therapy to art. When a child comes to therapy, their emotional portrait is a mixed up conglomeration of colors. They can often be so mixed up that it's hard to know what colors exist. Is it blue? Is it red? Is it green? As the child begins to explore their canvas, they begin to see each beautiful, valid emotional-color. Each one significant, and so very real. They learn to identify their various shades of red or yellow. They even learn how to use them. So you see, therapy is about learning to paint with every color, in the most meaningful and intentional way. It can be the difference between a child viewing themselves as a mess or beautiful masterpiece of colors.
