Sascha C. Smith, LPC-MHSP

Middle School Group Therapist

My name is Sascha Smith and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapist that has been working in the mental health field for over 7 years with both adolescents and children. Ongoing struggles with behavioral and emotional difficulties can be exhausting for both caregivers and youth. Asking for help can be a very frightening step. But sometimes, continuing the same daily patterns that cause stress in not only difficult for youth but also their families. It can bring them both to the point of needing to make some vital changes in their lives. Childhood and adolescence can be a pivotal time in the development of the necessary skills needed to overcome life’s difficulties, build mastery, and enhance self-esteem. I want to not just give you, your child, and your family an empathetic ear and the needed support to make these changes, but I also want to give you and your child the tools to succeed in making lasting positive changes!

My treatment approach is individualized, non-judgmental, and skills based. I practice Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which is one of the most scientifically proven methods for effective therapy with children and adolescents. I passionately believe that in order for individuals to change many of the difficult behaviors and emotions they have, they have to start with having the necessary skills to do so! Negative thoughts and behavior patterns change how we interact and perceive the world around us. When children and adolescents have the skills to deal with these difficulties they are able to build confidence and mastery in managing their emotions and behaviors. Therapy is a collaborative process and my part in that process is bringing you and your child the most relevant and effective tools and information so that you can both succeed. I want to support you, your child, and your family in moving in the direction of making lasting changes for long-term success!
