Ann H. Brandon, LPC

Group Therapist

Ann H. Brandon has been working in the field of counseling since 2012.
Mrs. Brandon has her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

She has served clients within several settings including a large
behavioural health hospital, then two large mental health state clinics, before she transitioned into private practice in March of 2019.

While in graduate school Mrs. Brandon first learned how Mindfulness practice can change the brain, and help emotion regulation.
However, it wasn’t till 2014 when she worked in a school-based setting, that she started incorporating Mindfulness activities into her therapy sessions with children.

Mrs Brandon had never heard of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) until starting a position with a large mental health state clinic in Berkeley county. In 2016, she was allowed to begin her learning process by observing, and then
eventually co-leading DBT skills training groups.

This experience truly ignited her passion for introducing DBT skills to clients who were struggling with a variety of complex diagnoses, including substance abuse. Mrs. Brandon did additional intensive training with Behavioral Tech in
2018 and 2019 to hone her DBT skills.

In June of 2022, The Middle Path at Barrier Islands Psychiatry presented a unique opportunity to again facilitate DBT skills groups for their clients.
Mrs. Brandon states that she feels honoured to walk alongside these clients as they do an Intensive Outpatient group that can change their lives. They inspire her with their humor, their stories, and their ability to rise above the things that have happened to them.

When she’s not facilitating groups or working in her private practice, Mrs. Brandon enjoys making jewellery, reading, yoga, hiking, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
