Ann Brandon, MA-LPC

Group Therapist

I have been working in the field of counseling since 2012. I have my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have served clients within several settings to include a large behavioral health hospital, then two large mental health state clinics in South Carolina. I have been in private practice since March of 2019. While in graduate school I first learned how Mindfulness practice can change the brain and help with emotion regulation. However, it wasn’t till 2014 while working in a school based setting, that I started incorporating Mindfulness activities into my therapy sessions with children. I was hooked! I had never heard of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) until starting a position with a large mental health state clinic in South Carolina in 2016. I did additional intensive training with Behavioral Tech in 2018 and 2019 to hone my DBT skills. I have led both teen and adult DBT groups, and love both! In 2022 I worked for The Middle Path at Barrier Islands Psychiatry (Charleston SC) leading a DBT skills Intensive Outpatient group for individuals who were struggling with a variety of complex diagnosis, to include substance abuse. I feel honored to again use my skills with The Middle Path at their Kingsport TN location. This Intensive Outpatient group has the potential to change lives. My clients continue to inspire me with their humor, their stories, and their ability to rise above the challenges they’ve experienced. When I’m not facilitating groups or working in my private practice, I enjoy making jewelry, reading, yoga, hiking, and spending time with my daughter.
