Game On Skills Training Group

Attention MRIS  (Montgomery Ridge Intermediate School) families, The Walk Counseling is providing skills training for students in grades 5-7 experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Perfectionism

  • Difficulty with Emotion Regulation

  • Anger, anxiety, and depression

  • Coping in Stressful Situations

  • Impulsiveness

  • Frequent Interpersonal Conflict

Students will be taught the four essential skills of DBT: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Through this group, students become capable of calmly recognizing challenging situations and their impact instead of becoming overwhelmed, reactive or hiding from them.  Ultimately, the student is able to self-manage to a greater degree and achieve greater balance in life.

The 8-week training is scheduled to begin in February.  Meetings are held by grade once per week on Wednesday’s during their Encore time.

Click the link below to apply.  (*Signing up does not guarantee participation as there are limited spots available.)

COST:  $200 per student.  Montgomery Ridge has covered the cost for all students to participate in this program.  However, any financial support (full or partial) that families can offer will allow us to provide programs like this to more students in need.
